Hello all,
I just got my white series and I have installed a few. So far I am enjoying them. I was curious if there is a way to totally disable the LED bar though? Unless I turn it on with the notification feature. Right now it is very faintly blue when the lights are off and fairly bright blue when the lights are on. I would prefer to just have that bar be off unless it is turned on via the notification feature.
Edit - Per other responses, it’s parameter 11. Not 12
Looks like you want to adjust parameter 12. The descriptions on the help page don’t seem to match up to the parameter name, but the parameter name and values suggest setting this to 0 should turn off load level indicators completely.
I think you want P11, which is the illumination intensity when the LED is OFF. P12 is how long the LED bar displays the illumination level of the load.
I have a few Blues that are just scene controllers – for those, I just set the bar to always display as white at a very low brightness level (i.e. 2).
That provides a nice subtle “guide light” sorta vibe, but it’s nothing too overt or distracting.
I can confirm P11 is the local config parameter to adjust to turn the LED fully off for the dimmer switch, whenever the switch is off.
The soon to be released White Fan switch uses a different parameter number to accomplish the same thing.
Thanks all. I will set this parameter. I am fighting my Apple Home devices right now, though. For some reason the Apple Home has changed the thread network overnight three separate times this week. It is quite frustrating.
Hi all, just got my switches a few days ago and am also trying to turn off the LED bar for certain switches. Looks like you can do it by changing a parameter…but unfortunately I don’t know how to access the parameters. I’m using Apple Home Assistant as my hub (technically my Apple TV) and Home Assistant app to access the switches.
Am I able to access the parameters through the app to change this setting? Or do I need to access somewhere else?
Not sure about the hub side, but this will show you how to change parameters at the switch:
Fantastic, thanks Bry. That worked well for what I wanted to do. Appreciate it!
Curious if I need to use a different Hub (e.g. SmartThings) to access a GUI to handle the parameters? Or if the only way to change parameters is locally at the switch itself. Either way though, this solved my immediate problem. Thank you
I don’t use Whites, but as I understand it, all of the hubs have limited access to parameters at the present. This is a constraint of Thread/Matter and not the hubs. This is still early adopter stuff (IMO). Hopefully the hub capabilities will improve with age.
I have a White and was able to set the intensity to zero using parameter 11 as suggested. This switch is set to Dimmer more (not just On/Off) and as you dim to level zero the intensity of the bar goes to zero now. Great! However… about one second later it returns to be lit. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a work-around? Thanks!
This turned out to be some conflict with HomeKit. The LED bar level had been set to 1% in HomeKit and it seemed to return to that level after the one second. After changing the setting to Off in HomeKit, it is working perfectly. Just wanted to follow up and share in case others run into the same issue.
