I’m in the process of installing white switches throughout my home. I’ve gotten about 50 or so done but just realized I screwed up. I’ve got 9 switches that control 1 or more MR16 bulbs (some dumb, some hue smart bulbs) which, of course, use a transformer to reduce the voltage down to 12V.
Reading the FAQ more carefully (which I should have done earlier) it says “No, this switch cannot be used with any sort of transformer” which kinda screws me. I can either replace all the lights and receptacles to use GU10 bulbs (particularly painful for the $ hue bulbs) or I can put back in dumb switches and wait un unknown amount of time for the White Series On/Off switch. Ugh.
But I searched the forum and found this thread:
This kinda makes it sound like if I use the right kind of transformer I’ll be good? Am I reading this correctly? And if so what kind of transformer do I need exactly? Any help is appreciated!
CC @paul_voorn to see if he has wisdom to share since it sounds like he’s been down this road.
