I have homekit, trying to get 100% onto Matter/Thread, no HA. Loving the 2-in-1 white switches (despite the slight complications due to the LED-bar being supported in a weird way).
I have a WAC SRT-300M-12v low voltage transformer powering 3 dimmable 12v mr16 bulbs.
I used to power it with an x10 (yup!) switch that allowed it to be dimmable.
What are my options for getting white switch support (I saw some stuff about configuring as ‘trailing edge’; or can I only use it as on/off, or should I not use a white switch at all).
Can I replace the transformer with something else, and then use the white switch in dimmer mode?
last resort… what could I use instead of a white switch to get this at least into homekit?
Okay… this one says “ELV, MLV”… will this work?
If not, any on Amazon that you recommend (I only need 60W, but will go for 100W or 150W to leave some room?
I’m in the same boat here. I’m a bit confused because the FAQ for the White Dimmer says “No, this switch cannot be used with any sort of transformer.” Is this not correct?
Can certain transformers be used with the switch without issues?
Hi @harryh … Following PJF’s advice which indicated that Electronic (ELV) Low Voltage transformers might be ok, I tried the Goover one and it worked for me. YMMV!
I also have a white switch that’s actually driving a fan with a dimmable LED light; it shouldn’t work, but it does (90% of the time the switch is on full power and the fan is rarely on, but I tested and even when dimmed, the fan and the light seem to work just fine).
Two White Switches bit the dust in all my installs and experimentation (one was on the 3-way lights before I read the stuff about needing a special aux switch, the other one was when I hooked up the lights above (I had forgotten that they were even low voltage and on a transformer).
I look at them as a donations to the Inovelli project.
