White Fan Switch Load Always On

Hello, this is the first inovelli fan switch I have wired up. I have done plenty of other inovelli switches and know how to configure and wire them. I need to use this one as an on/off fan switch. However setting it as an exhaust fan on/off in a single pole configuration the load never turns off. There appears to be another “smart fan” setting but I also made sure that was disabled. Does anyone have any ideas why the load terminal won’t turn off?

I have confirmed voltage is constant whether the switch is on or off. Also the load seems to be energized even if the air gap switch is pulled out.

Thank you for the help.

While there is an unlikely possibility you have a defective switch, it’s more likely this is a wiring issue.

  • Is this a neutral or non-neutral installation?
  • Did you test to determine which was the line and which was the load before installation? If so, how?

It has a neutral connected. Even if I only connect the line (which I have confirmed is correctly connected) the load terminal has power to it (even if I don’t connect a load). I also knew which wire was which based on the original switch.

In other words the wiring is correct. I did check a second switch I have not installed and that has the same behavior.
