White Series + Alexa findings / troubleshooting

Hey y’all! I thought I’d share my insight on Inovelli/Amazon. Here’s my setup:

I have 20 Inovelli White series dimmers, an Eve plug, and three Nanoleaf bulbs on a Thread network controlled by three Gen 4 Amazon Echos.

It took me FOREVER to figure out how to get a somewhat stable setup. For those interested, here’s what I did:

  1. I Set up Homeassistant on Raspberry Pi with a ZBT-1 dongle
  2. I Connected all the Inovelli dimmers to Homeassistant and updated firmware to 1.0.5
  3. I Disconnected Homeassistant and reset EVERYTHING to factory defaults. Dimmers, Echos, everything.
  4. I Went to Amazon settings and deleted all saved Thread credentials
  5. I Set up everything again on the Amazon app via the new Thread network automatically created by the Echos.

This got me pretty far. Everything works, it’s all responsive, and stability is good… for about a day and a half, then the network starts to break down and devices drop off. If I powercycle all three Echos, the network rebuilds itself pretty quickly and devices are responsive again, for another day and a half.

I hope this helps anyone else stuck in the Amazon ecosystem get closer to a stable network. If anyone has any insight on how to keep the network from breaking down after a day and a half, I’d love to hear it!

Cheers
