I have a white series dimmer switch that was working fine in Home Assistant until it went unresponsive a few days ago. I’ve removed it from Home Assistant, and reset it but upon restarting it never goes into pairing mode (flashing blue). Pressing config 3 times doesn’t initiate pairing either. An air gap power cycle or makes no difference, nor does flipping the breaker. Any other ideas on how to force pairing mode?
Factory reset the switch. Hold the config button and the up paddle at the same time. The LED bar will change to green, yellow and finally red (takes about 30 secs). When you see the red bar release both buttons and the switch will reset (teal, yellow, blue). At that point the switch is in pairing mode.
Note: AFAIK flashing blue does not indicate ready for pairing mode on the white switch. What software version is the switch on?
@andrewk thanks for the advice, I did perform a factory reset in the manner you described but still no luck in getting it to pair. From the manual it sounds like I should expect to see pulsing blue on the switch when it’s ready to pair. I believe I updated the firmware to 1.05 but through my troubleshooting steps I removed the switch from HomeAssistant and cannot confirm. In the end, I’m RMA’ing the switch so will post an update once I get it back to report whether it’s the same switch or a different one.
You won’t see the pulsing blue until pairing has actually started. The LED will be steady blue until then. What HA device are you using to pair with the switch?
Ah, good to know; it was a while since I originally paired it. I’m using a Home Assistant Connect ZBT-1 running with just Thread firmware loaded on it.
OK.. I didn’t phrase my question as well as I could have. Are you using HA on an iPhone to pair?
That’s correct, I’ve used the HA app on my iPhone in the past to pair this Matter device and others.
You are using the “add new device” option…. correct? Also to be sure that nothing is “stuck” I would go into the Matter section on your iPhone and made sure the device is deleted. I’d also double check that the device is completely removed from the Matter server on HA.
@andrewk Just a quick update. I RMA’d the device and was able to get the new one to successfully pair. However it required a few attempts, so your advice of double checking the device was completely deleted from the Matter section on the iPhone was helpful. Thanks for your guidance!
