I installed a bunch of White Series Dimmer switches and all of them were working fine on SW version 1.0.0. The only problem was that they would lose connectivity every week or so and I had to reset them. However, after updating to v1.0.5 connectivity is stable, but 2 of my lights now keep going in ON-OFF loop with the switch light blinking green and powering off.
Both the switches are installed besides a normal ON-OFF switch which controls a different light. Power is coming through it.
Another commonality between the two switches that are acting up is that they control only 2 LED lights in the ceiling. The other 3 I have installed control 4 or more. I don’t know if that tells us anything?
Any ideas what I can do to remedy this? I don’t have a neutral wire. The house is a new construction (Nov 2024).
Thanks!
Edit1:
I read through the wiring instructions again and found this:
Your profile does not say where you are located. If you are in the US or Canada and your house was built in 2024 it is extremely unlikely that you do not have a neutral in the switch junction box. The original (mechanical) switch would not be using it but there should be a bundle of white wires connected together in the back of the box. Since these switches will work without a neutral but work better and in more cases with one, I would check into that first. If you have ROMEX wiring (3 wires black, white and un jacketed copper for ground in a white sheath, then take a look at the load wire on teh switch and follow it back to the ROMEX bundle. If that ROMEX bundle has a white wire in it and there are it and other white wires connected together with a wirenut in the box then you have a neutral wire installation.
Since you posted a diagram of a non-neutral configuration I presume that is what you have. But double check because your house is newly built. If that is the case, adding a bypass is the logical next step. It’s likely the switches are not getting sufficient power, causing the reboot.
Here is the Inovelli bypass. There are other versions widely available.
Thank you @andrewk and @Bry
I am in US (California), and indeed there were neutral wires bundled up with a wire twist, tucked way back.
I had to remove all the other switches to get to it and after attaching the neutral jumper to the dimmer and twisting it with the rest of the netural wire twist, everything works perfectly.
