@Kaleb_Inovelli Is there any rough ETA on when the firmware fix might be available (beta or otherwise)?
swapped them, flicker followed the switch, not the bulb. so fair to say bulbs and wiring is good but this particular switch is a problem. I’ll factory reset it one more time then just submit for warranty I think. It’s only like 45 days old product. Things happen what can ya do.
I sent a message to @Kaleb_Inovelli asking if I could get the firmware file and gave my contact info. I did not get a response.
Same. Messaged him a month ago and haven’t heard anything
I’d also be happy to help test
Hey everyone,
Thank you for your patience as I looked into this. The firmware update to resolve this issue is still not yet available. We are actively working through it; however, this issue is something that can’t be easily replicated by our engineering team which is why it is taking us some time to fix. As soon as I have another update for you, I will let you know.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
@Kaleb_Inovelli I just installed this switch last night and having the same issues. I’ve tried both leading & trailing modes and no dice. If you need another tester for beta firmwares I’m willing. Let me know. Thanks!
It’s very easily reproducible for all my blue switches when the switch is installed with no neutral and I try to change some parameters like the LED indicator color. It happens almost every time that way
Any update on the firmware? I have 30+ Blue switches mainly connected to smart bulbs to avoid the flickering. However, I have a few chandeliers with dumb bulbs that flicker and pulsate frequently. I have tried trailing edge and it did not help.
@Kaleb_Inoveli - perhaps those of us who have been experiencing this issue could assist with testing possible firmware fixes? I would be happy to do so.
An update would be much appreciated.
I need eight more switches and can’t put the decision off much longer.
While I like the wealth features Inovelli switches offer, I can’t have flickering throughout the house.
I may need to opt for the Enbrighten switches if there is no resolution soon.
Hi there,
Thank you all for your patience on this. Our engineering team is still working on developing a new firmware to resolve this issue. There are no further updates at this time. As soon as we have another update for you, I will let you know.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you!
Adding my voice to this. Just got the dimmers yesterday. I worked extensively with Lutron so I immediately checked my fixtures functional dimming range, forward / reverse phase, etc, but my flickering definitely is as described in this thread. Looking forward to the new firmware.
Just tagging in that this is also affecting me in the rooms where using GE Relax HD lights instead of Hue.
This issue thread has been going on for a year and a half now, with no resolution in sight. It is embarrassing having guests over and have to explain why my lights are flickering. Is this issue being worked on, or are we all being left hanging in the wind?
Hi @Kaleb_Inovelli, it’s been two months since your last update. When can we expect to see a fix for this issue that has been going for more than a year-and-a-half?
Hi there,
I will check with our team to see if we can get another update on this and I will let you know as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience on this!
Has anyone with the issue checked for spamy devices on their zigbee network? In other threads they have said that not connecting to zigbee solves the issue and it was said in here that processing of commands can cause it. To me it sounds like the switching of the dimmer circuit is driven directly from the cpu, and any interrupts could delay that process resulting in a change in switching/brightness. Since these devices work as repeaters, a spamy device could be sending too many messages causing interrupts to the switching process resulting in the brightness fluctuations people are seeing.
they already had me check disconnecting switch from the Zigbee network and it didn’t help at all. I also only have three Zigbee devices right now, all three of them being this same inovelli switch.
The most active integration according to the logs is the Home Kit integration - the Zigbee devices are pretty quiet on the whole.
Checking the topology, nothing is currently directly connected to the problematic switch (as a repeater), all such devices are connected to the Enbrighten switch, which is located right next to the Inovelli (I suspect because it was quicker to start up on the last power cycle).
Spammy devices or not, I somewhat expect the dimming circuit physically separate from whatever generates the control inputs.
If we were complaining about an unstable dimming curve this might be a valid argument, but the flickering occurs without any control input, which is more suggestive of an EMI problem in the switch design itself (ruling out any firmware bugs, which we probably can at this point).
