Actually I’m trying to capture the left side of the room and 100cm out. I think the “Left” name on param 103 is slightly confusing, I did +300 assuming it is “300cm to the left” I just tried changing it to -300 and was still seeing the issue. I then changed the Far to 50 then back to 100 and now it seems to be working. I’ll test some more over the next few days. I’m hoping now that it’s setup I won’t have to touch the values (but I have another to setup). Unfortunately some of these bugs (like having to wait 10 seconds and set parameters in a specific order) make it very hard to configure the device and being a SmartThings user I don’t have an easy way to apply a FW update
There is an image in the manual that came with the switch that gives you an idea of the area it can see.
I have a VZW32-SN on firmware 2.0.0 that consistently pairs with S0 (Security Class 1) instead of S2, regardless of inclusion method.
Setup:
-
Home Assistant OS 2026.2.0
-
Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro (ZWA060, fw 2.0, SDK 7.23.2)
-
Z-Wave JS driver 15.20.1
What I’ve tried:
-
Manual inclusion via QR code scan → Mesh Network
-
SmartStart inclusion via QR code
-
Multiple exclude/re-include cycles
-
All S2 security keys (Access Control, Authenticated, Unauthenticated) are configured on the controller
Symptoms:
-
HA never shows a PIN confirmation dialog during inclusion (which should appear for S2)
-
Post-inclusion diagnostics always show
highestSecurityClass: 1(S0) -
Controller node shows
supportsSecurity: false
Question:
Is this a known issue with firmware 2.0.0? Is there a way to force S2 inclusion, or is a firmware update planned that addresses this?
Thanks!
Have you tried fully rebooting Z-Wave JS after excluding before you include again?
I’ve found that to be an issue (it seems to get stuck on the previously included security method) with Z-Wave JS sometimes.
If you can switch to Z-Wave JS UI instead of Z-Wave JS, you should be able to add a smart start entry before you start inclusion and you can uncheck the box for S0 which may make a difference.
Thanks Rohan! I ended up trying a firmware update with the beta 2.1 and it seems to have triggered something to start working. Showing up as S2 Authenticated now. If I run into it again, will try switching over to Z-Wave JS UI.
This is very strange. I noticed my switch was turning on in the middle of the night. The strange part is it’s not random, it’s almost every 30 minutes. This is multiple days, not just one instance of this pattern occuring, and it’s always at the :20 and :50 minute marks.

There are no fans, no pets, I looked at when my HVAC is running and it’s not lining up with it. Sensitivity is set to medium.
Any ideas what could be going on?
Did you check for ghosts?
It being to the second would make me think an app/cron on the hub is causing it somehow.
Less likely, boundaries are too large and it is picking up something in another room.
Even less likely, power fluctuations.
Almost impossible but I would get a chuckle out of it, you are near an airport or something that has a bird cannon and the sound wave is low enough you can’t hear it but still moves your walls.
Or, you know, very timely ghosts.
