Since my Halo downlights are built-in, I unfortunately don’t have the option of swapping them out.
I could and did however swap out the dimmer for other ones (including another Zigbee dimmer), and the flickering only occurs with the Inovelli Blue
I also have 4” Halo wafers and they’re flickering quite a bit.
yeah, I know some cheap bulbs will flicker when dimmed, but that doesn’t appear to be the issue here. I even was able to notice this issue with an incandescent bulb.
I ended up returning the 5 blue 2-1 switches i had for the red 2-1 and all 5 of the circuits have been perfectly fine ever since.
We did hypothesize above that it’s a problem with the Zigbee implementation, so it would make sense if the equivalent red switch did not exhibit the problem.
@EricM_Inovelli any updates on this? Did the test firmware fix the issue?
I reached out to @EricM_Inovelli to test but he’s never responded back. I don’t know if that means it’s still not ready for testing or what
I have four LED lights that are also suffering from this. They are on a newly purchased VZM31 so I’m interested to see if new firmware fixes the issue.
Multiple lights with this same issue. If Inovelli needs a field trip to witness this, I’ll volunteer my home ![]()
I’d be willing to test as well. @EricM_Inovelli
We found a couple of bugs in the firmware that I am trying to get fixed before giving it to the testers. The engineer is out for the next few days and I am hoping he will be able to work on it early next week.
I for one certainly appreciate code being tested before being shipped - I’ve had too much experience the other way.
Another month has gone by, coming up on the two year mark for this issue and still no resolution in sight? Maybe this will be the month we finally get a solution for the flickering in our houses?
I bought 8 blue 2-1 switches this summer for my renovation and was planning to buy a lot more for the rest of my house but this flickering issue has my giving serious consideration to selling all my switches and going a different route. I can’t deal with my lights flickering every time I turn my light switches on for much longer. It’s embarrassing TBH.
I also bought 6 Blue 2-1s over the summer, and the flickering with standard Halo RA4s is painful enough that I had to revert them to on-off mode. Finding out that this is a 2 year old known problem reflects poorly on the otherwise solid build quality, and I’m likely to replace them soon instead of expanding to the rest of the house.
I’ve also been having this issue since installing my blues a few years ago… the blues have been an incredibly frustrating experience. Unfortunately I’m probably way too late for a return, but I’d really like to uninstall and return ALL of my blue switches because I’ve lost faith in the product.
I am glad this is finally gaining traction - I had reported a similar bug a few years ago and it was just dismissed. Please do something, this is a widespread issue and it’s unacceptable on such expensive switches
