Inclusion / Pairing Instructions
On SmartThings, there are a couple of ways you can pair your smart switch. In this example, the two ways are called, “Non-Secure” (ie: no security) or S2. The default method is S2.
NOTE: If you would like to take advantage of, “Smart Bulb Mode” via Z-Wave Associations, you will need to pair without security (ie: non-secure) as our bulbs do not support S2 and Associations need to be on the same security level.
Non-Secure Inclusion Method
Use this method if you want your smart switch to be directly associated (via Z-Wave) with your Inovelli smart bulb or if you prefer to include without security (sometimes your network can be faster without security).

NOTE: The below directions assume you have installed the device handler prior to pairing.
Step By Step Instructions
- Turn power back onto your switch (the LED bar should be a solid blue)
- Open your SmartThings App
- Press the (+) button at the top right of the screen
- Click on, “Device” (or, “Add Device” depending on the screen you’re on)
- Click, “Scan nearby” at the top right of the screen
- Press the configuration button 3x (within about 1-1.5 seconds)
- The LED bar should start to pulse blue indicating it’s in inclusion/pairing mode
- If successful, the LED bar will turn green (if unsuccessful, the LED bar will turn red)
- In addition, your app will show your switch (it will say, “Z-Wave device” with a bubble that says, “Secure setup” – DO NOT PRESS, “Secure setup”)
- Press the back arrow at the top of the screen to go back to the main menu – you will see a pop-up that says, “Skip secure setup?” – click, “OK”
- Next, click on the, “Devices” tab and look for your switch – it should show up under, “No room assigned”
- Feel free to rename it and assign it to the proper room (to do this click on the switch, then click on the three dots and select, “Edit”)
